Official info I have from Nintendo is 1.65M and that was on December 31st 2018. Unlikely it sold another 400k in a year.

The source was the Japanese charts on this very site and a site I had bookmarked that seems to be gone now although from the numbers I've looked up on the official front we have 1.65m for the end of 2018 so you're right we'll go with that.
