We know last year Smash actually had a bigger drop in Week 2 compared to Pokemon Sword/Shield this year.
Ring Fit Adventure's drop had more to do with lack of stock after the holidays and I guess we should expect it to flactuate based on demand in the coming months.
There is no game that can rival New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe in January this year.
Softare Sales could still be carried until Animal Crossing by Pokemon, Ring Fit Adventure & >100K 3rd Party Selling titles.
Top 3 2018 Q1 Early Prediction:
- Animal Crossing >1.5M
- Pokemon Sword/Shield >800K
- Ring Fit Adventure >600K
I'm thinking Nintendo will see a massive spike in terms of both hardware and software due to much stronger lineup early on in 2020 compared to 2018/2019. I would not be suprised if there is at least 10 Switch titles with over 100K Sales this quarter. Massive sales and new demographics buying Switches due to Animal Crossing will drive higher software sales in other evergreen titles, Pokemon and Ring Fit Adventure will benefit the most from this. If Tokyo Mirage is able to clear >100K this quarter it will be a sign, since I think this title might benefit from different demographics buying the Switch. As I posted in a previous thread, titles that appeal to different demographics could definitely capitalize on Animal Crossing being launched this year. Hope 3rd Parties have some female focused gaming experiences they can push in 2020. I'm also interested what type of mid-tier titles Nintendo reveals for 2020, a follow up to Snipperclips and some collaborations with other indie developers could be a great move on their part.
