Much of their decisions seem to start with this question, "does the west want this?" And I think thats a logical strategy. The Western label is a bit too broad, if you really think about it, the US and European markets are quite different. Might be the reason why Xbox can't seem to make serious dents in the European market, but it's relatively competitive in the UK and US markets.

Just saying, there's a lot more nuance than your "West vs Japan" labels imply.

I disagree, Europe's best selling games is pretty similar on Playstation and Xbox. MS has also had better success in Europe than it does at the moment. Again, I blame mistakes made early on with X1.
