About the funding of games in the "west" vs Japan, I mean, we do have examples like Bloodborne and Demon's Souls right? Not sure I would classify them as "action titles". I have no data to show they are investing more money in 3rd party deals in one area vs the other. One thing should be noted though, there is no competition from Microsoft in that market, which means every big budget game gets made for the PS4, with less than a 50% (guessing) chance of it ever coming to Xbox.

I have bowed out of the discussion. You can see the several replies and basically Sony is hoping for the best because they don't release majority of their games focusing exclusively on Japan, the global view and dominance of Sony with releases that interest everybody (and sure focusing their 1st party on games the 3rd parties aren't making) means they don't care about Japan and just hope to sell there with whatever is delivered by 3rd parties.

Basically it is another case of Sony dominating 3 gens by luck, hope and no merit.

Hah, a majority? Not really any at this point in spite of having success there. That seems to have died with Vita.

I didnt say their success is luck. Maybe resting on laurels in Japan though. Their western focus is impressive and MS's mistakes didnt hurt them either. Much like PS3 mistakes were good for 360.
