Kind of depends how much they expect to sell. If they expect to sell to a niche audience they need more money per copy to make the investment work.
Or they're just trying to rip people off. Either way, I don't see much point in complaining. I'm a big fan of people educating themselves before they make purchases, and not buying something they don't feel is worth it.
