The logo is pretty much what we could expect. Nintendo's logos present the console and/or what makes it different to the former console.
Sony uses similar logos because that's what PS is about. It's about releasing a much stronger version of pretty much the same.
If Sony would have used a totally different logo this time then we could probably expect some big changes but they want to tell everyone that you get pretty much the same just updated to new technology.
It might be boring but it wouldn't make any sense to change the Logo like Nintendo does
