It's not that they all of a sudden like them, it's just that they say that they are better than the sequel trilogy. It's more to insult the sequels than to praise the prequels.

The prequels had some good ideas, but they were excited horribly. Mostly shot on green screen to have dated CG added. A horrible comic sidekick that no one likes. With stale acting as a cherry on top.

Their benefit, however, is that they didn't completely destroy the lore. Or have a boring OP character that took over the franchise. The only way this sequel trilogy will be looked upon favorably is if Disney releases another trilogy that's even worse. Don't really see that happening any time soon.

Exactly. The one thing the prequels did right is lightsabers. No matter how bad the films were the lightsabers are still fun in those. The sequels they are butchered a d just infuriating

Depends. I do Historical European Martial Arts and I find the lightsaber combat in the sequels to be much more satisfying. Yes, the prequels are much more flashy, but the lightsaber combat in the sequels is much more visceral and closer how you would actually use a sword or saber.

This had a reason.

The Jedi are the Jedi and not regular sword fighters, and through the Force they are capable of extraordinary feats. The prequels are supposed to show the Jedi in a Golden Age, at the height of their power and ability. Their fighting skills are supposed to transcend that of any regular person, which is why the duals in the prequels are so flashy. Even Palpatine, though one of the most powerful Force users ever, is not a Jedi of the prequel trilogy's age, didn't have their training and is clearly not in the same league as the better Jedi when it comes to lightsaber combat. After the prequels the knowledge and skill of the Jedi is lost, and newer generations are simply not as good anymore. Luke Skywalker never had a teacher for his sword fighting abilities, so he'll make do with how a 'normal' person would fight. Logically this lack of higher skill is passed on to the next generation in the sequel trilogy.
