Will these movies ever be great? I don't think so. As the prequels had many flaws, so do the sequels, but in time, we might see them for what they are. I've already accepted the most interesting material in Star Wars are the Expanded Universe materials. Rogue One, Solo, Rebels, Resistance, The Clone Wars (series), The Mandalorian,... These really flesh out the world in a way most fans appreciate and they're more focused then the 3 (eventually 2) directors approach of the Sequel trilogy.

I'm also pretty confident Disney will just pick one director for the next trilogy when that comes around.

It's not that they all of a sudden like them, it's just that they say that they are better than the sequel trilogy. It's more to insult the sequels than to praise the prequels.

The prequels had some good ideas, but they were excited horribly. Mostly shot on green screen to have dated CG added. A horrible comic sidekick that no one likes. With stale acting as a cherry on top.

Their benefit, however, is that they didn't completely destroy the lore. Or have a boring OP character that took over the franchise. The only way this sequel trilogy will be looked upon favorably is if Disney releases another trilogy that's even worse. Don't really see that happening any time soon.

Exactly. The one thing the prequels did right is lightsabers. No matter how bad the films were the lightsabers are still fun in those. The sequels they are butchered a d just infuriating
