On that note however, it does show that Nintendo has already done an upgrade similar to what I am predicting...or one cycle anyway.  Kind of makes me feel even stronger about my prediction.

Though this was a long time ago and their actions then cannot for sure translate to how they would handle things now, so at this point only time will tell.

You have to keep in mind GBC was released 9 years after GB first was released that is a different scenario to the pro model one people are touting with Switch unless you're saying Nintendo will do the same with Switch and let it have it's full life before any such model arrives then ok, GBC was handled as a successor as a result and was easier for people to move onto the new model as it was seen as a pseudo successor as the leap was like new gen anyway adding four more years to the GB line before the GBA succeeded it.
