Unless you can show me where Nintendo has made that a rule, then what you're saying makes no sense. Everything ever at one point hadn't been done before.

I personally dont see them releasing MK9 on Switch, MK8 is consistently still in the weekly/monthly top 10 in almost every major region and the team hist recently released Tour so I think they will wait to release MK9 as a Switch 2 launch window title but its definitely not impossible.
