| SpokenTruth said: Also to note. As I mentioned in the Senate Trial section, the entirety of the Senate functions as a jury and is presided over by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Unfortunately, we may already be running into a mistrial that may require Chief Justice John Roberts to intervene before the trial even begins. Senators Mitch McConnell (the Senate Majority Leader) and Lindsey Graham have both made statements recently that directly stand contrast to the oath of jury they will be taking soon. McConnell said the Senate will be working directly with the White House ensure their stance is 100% the stance of the president. Graham said he's already made up his mind and is ‘Not trying to pretend to be a fair juror’. These are gross violations of the oath of a juror. In McConnell's case, it's even worse. Imagine the jury (the Senate) consorting with the defendant (President Trump) in a criminal case to ensure the jury returns a verdict in their favor. Some senators have asked that McConnell recuse himself. I expect calls for his dismissal to soon follow if he does not. |
Its very interesting on McConnell end. I wonder if he is doing this on purpose in a move to remove himself from the proceedings. Its not like McConnell doesn't know how this would play out once he made his statements. Just seems weird for him to go on public notice stating he is aligning the Senate with the White House.
