Thanks for sharing this. I already knew how much the game meant to you but it was great to see all this laid out.
I found it to be a decent game—I liked the exploration and puzzle-solving aspect and the story did hit home—although I think so-called “walking simulators” have a ceiling.
Have you tried Perception? It’s more of a gothic horror game, but it’s first-person and narrative-driven and takes place in and around a single home.
I did notice Perception when it became available for the PlayStation 4 a couple years back, but I haven't actually purchased it yet. Have you? Is it any good?
