You can use DS4, and it works both wired and wirelessly on PC. I played Destiny 2 and Gylt a little over a half hour each today. Received my activation code, but my Chromecast and Stadia Controller have not arrived yet.

After seeing how well DS4 works, I highly doubt I will ever bother with the Stadia Controller. I’ll give it a try on the Chromecast to see how it plays, but the response was already fine with DS4. The only issue I had was the washed out looking image.

You don’t have to get Stadia. If you have a PC with a Chrome Browser, a DS4 or XBO controller, and a USB cable or Bluetooth, then you already have Stadia.

Personally, I have no interest in 3rd party games on Stadia, but I am looking forward to Original IP from their 1st Party Studios, that take advantage of the unique Cloud only networking of Stadia, and the ease of tapping into multiple CPU/GPU.

I’m really hoping that by the end of next gen, we have access to all of these streaming platforms, on all three consoles. Being able to buy one consoles that has your most beloved games, while still having access to the other ecosystems without having to drop $300 plus on multiple additional devices would be a huge win.

But I mean, you still do have to pay for the service don't you?

I do like the convenience of playing these high-end games on multiple devices, but I'm concerned the tech just isn't quite there yet. Maybe in a decade it'll be more solid, at which point I'm more inclined to take the plunge. And I still appreciate the notion of actually owning your games, especially in physical format. And I don't see that ever changing with me.

Stadia does not require a subscription. The free portion of the service is arriving next year. It will offer 1080p, 60fps, Stereo Sound, and Online Gameplay.

The only thing you ever have to purchase on Stadia is a license to the specific titles you are interested in.

In time titles will go on sale for the free version of Stadia. They already currently have some massive half off deals going for the Stadia Pro subscribers, which will cover the sub cost many times over with just a single purchase.

For me the selling point for Stadia, is any exclusives that Google delivers. New, Creative, and Innovative experiences that are only seeing light thanks to Google's investment. I already have local devices for everything else.

With absolutely no investment required in hardware, there is really no reason to miss out on a Stadia exclusive that you are interested in. You can grab it at full price or wait until it goes on sale. If only one game ever grabs your attenetion, then that is the only investment you ever have to make into Stadia. Youi never have to pay for hardware or a service that you don't want, just the content you are interested in.

All that needs to happen now, is the materialization of those exclusives. Gylt is a decent enough Trial, for only $29.99, but they need to deliver some AAA titles to have any chance of grabbing the attention of gamers with local hardware.

Where Stadia will shine the brightest is when next gen games start hitting it, and no longer being developed on PS4/XBO. Then casual Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, and Fifa gamers will have to make a choice whether they want to invest $500 in a PS5/XB4, or if they just want to use their current DualShock 4 or XBO Controller on Stadia, using the Smart device they already own. That is the main audience Google is targeting, and that is the largest potion of the gaming userbase.
