The 80s and 90s are over, Madonna isn't topping the pop charts, neither is Britney for that matter, times change, the only IP really relevant from the 70s/80s/90s today in a major way to the point it can carry a movie is Star Wars and there's not much else past that.

Kids don't want to see that old ass shit that's been done before already. Total Recall remake bombed, Robocop remake bombed, Terminator Genisys bomed, Ghostbusters bombed, Alien Covenant bombed, Tron did so-so, Blade Runner box office was a dud but a solid movie, Red Dawn bombed, Independence Day 2 was a bomb, Men In Black 4 was a bomb, The Predator (2018) bombed, Rambo: Last Blood fizzled out hard too. 

The only one that maybe did pretty well was Creed, which is a Rocky "remix", and that brought more of a fresh energy to it by making Apollo Creed's son Adonis the lead character, but as I said it's becoming rare for these reboots of 80s/90s IP to do well.

Man, then that should prove to you that the problem has nothing to do with a female lead, so kinda of throws out the misogynist argument when people hate these films.  The problem has to do with woke politics being pushed over writing an actual good script, with good characters.  And the fact you couldn't see them, probably just shows that you agree with them and are glad they are in there, and will have to continue to come into these threads desperately coming up with excuses as to why it wasn't the woke crap that helped make it a flop. 

I mean, a character mocks that a man would be the savior of the human race, so they "fix" it to be a woman.  You have the whole smashing the border wall thing, which is also probably why they made the new savior a native to Mexico.  They emasculated the Arnold Terminator by turning him into basically a cuck, who watches over the kids, but him and his "wife" don't have sex.  And what is always the cherry on top, the director goes out and bashes anyone who criticizes his work as misogynist trolls, even though they were excited to watch the film when they heard James Cameron and Linda Hamilton were coming back.  Of course, the promo pic and trailer turned a lot of people off.

As for your list, very wrong.  Has nothing to do with people not liking things being done over again, or making sequels to old films.  There have been many remakes/sequels that have actually down well.  True Grit. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  Freaky Friday.  War of the Worlds.  The Ocean's Eleven series.  The Bond series. The problem comes when they are done poorly, and it makes it even worse when they are done poorly for the sake of woke politics.  Oh, I don't know, like what Ghostbusters did.  And MIB4 put in some of that, as well.

I know you want to limit it to 80s and 90s stuff, cause you think it helps your case, but it doesn't change that the films are remakes/sequels to old films, or even "old(er) ass shit."  Though, if you just want to stick with 80s/90s, we can.  Look at all of the Disney remakes that are just raking in the cash, and some of them are originally from the 80s and 90s.  And if MIB4 was actually another decent sequel with Tommy Lee Jones and Will Smith, it would have succeeded, just like MIB3, which was the highest grossing film in the series.  The Rocky sequels continue to do well, including Creed.  Same goes for the Die Hard sequels.  And while Blade Runner and Tron did flop, mainly due to large budgets, they did in the past, too.  Hell, it seems people want to see that old shit even more, considering how much better their sequels did.  As for Rambo, that has been on a downward trend since the late 80s, with Rambo 3 making much less (-$110M) than the 2nd one, and the sequels continuing that trend.  Similar story for the Predator, albiet with a few more ups and downs, and it's a series that never was huge at the box office.

Also, some of the movies on your list were not bombs, in the fact that they didn't lose money, they just didn't make a lot after the budget and marketing was paid for.  Total Recall made $261.4M on a $65M budget, probably needing ~$175-$195M to break even.  Genisys made $432.2M on a $155M budget, probably needing $380M-$400M to break even.  You also bring up Alien Covenant, but ignore Prometheus, whose biggest selling point was being a prequel to Alien, which did $402.4M on a $125M budget, probably needing $355-375M to break even.

Oh, and on a completely unrelated topic , Charlie's Angels, which was pushing the whole woke BS, too, just flopped HARD.  $28M WW in its 1st weekend.  Even with just a budget of $50M, this film is going to have a tough time breaking even at ~$150M.
