Pretty incredible achievements for Nintendo, the only active hardware company in the industry that has endured the majority of generations in video game history. From the arcades to the 8-bit era to the rise of 3D graphics to the complexities of the HD/Blu-Ray era and, soon, the 4K-8K era.

People say that the PlayStation brand is, currently, the strongest in the industry. Maybe so, but I don't think Nintendo's brand is far behind and its possibly matching the PS brand at this moment with the Switch dominating worldwide as of now. Its closing in on Xbox One's LTD sales (which dates back to 2013 compared to Switch's 2017 launch).

Part of it revolves around Nintendo's IPs, which are the hallmark of Nintendo's business. While most franchises (even some of Nintendo's lesser known IPs) have come and gone, Mario, Zelda, Pokemon, Smash Bros., etc. have continued to endure for 20+ years. Being able to reinvent these franchises and reach new audiences is nothing short of incredible. Then you have other IPs like Wii Sports, Splatoon, Metroid, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Xenoblade, Animal Crossing, Fire Emblem, among others that diversify Nintendo's lineup and provide unique experiences within that brand and audience.
