Adding my own two cents but repeating what a few have already said:
1. Halo and Metroid are two very different games. In fact, it may have been a great idea to leave on-line play out of Metroid to further reduce the comparisons of the two titles. (There's no way Nintendo could have created an on-line multiplayer system anywhere near as robust at Halo's in the time given and with the current infrastructure they have.)
2. Hopefully Metroid will show developers how to correctly implement the Wiimote in FPS style games. Hopefully gamers find it as good as or better than dual analogue. (Some will balk without ever trying it.)
3. Metroid isn't the end all be all game this generation. Super Smash Brothers and Mario Galaxy are much more important and will sell more than Metroid will ever hope to.
Numbers are like people. Torture them enough and you can get them to say anything you want.
