How much of an effect will the forthcoming price cut have on PS3 sales??

I think it was a bad idea for Sony to drop the price so quickly, especially in America. Not only does it look desperate, but they don't have the games to back it up. They should have waited until GTA or something like that. I don't see this having almost any long term effect, and the short term effect isn't going to be spectacular either.
