Because the Wii is new, interesting, innovative, reliable and shows promise. The PS2 is old, lacking reliability, at the end of its run and the PS3, it successor and future's sake, shows relatively little promise.
This frustration you're expressing is indicative of an inability to understand more complex social and market trends in gaming. People like you yourself seem to latch onto one simple concept of appeal and run with it as if it's the sole deciding factor. For example, people who can't fathom graphics not being the most important factor in gaming this generation. People who can't fathom HD not being a mandatory requirement for everything this early inits standardizaiton. People who can't fathom why their opinion isn't the popular one this generation. It's short sighted and naive logic really.
The Wii-mote is ideal, it is popular and it is selling the Wii like hotcakes. You can either ask if there is something wrong with everyone else, or if there is just something wrong with you.
