Yes, the medium(or brand) has democratisized itself a lot in the last decade (especially, since 2012-2013) amongst the younger generation and people currently at our age willing to consume medias of that form, but you'd be hard press to find it as an acutal accepted standard of our society like in TV Programs where you'd have difficulties to find something else than Toonami(Adult Swim) having a centric anime focus in it's runnning schedule. Although, I'm not saying things haven't advance either, on the contrary, you just look at how much content the medium have seen brought in the last decade in our libraries and streaming services but I just wanna give a bit of my own perspective cuz I still think that we're far from the "All is well and good" phase here. |
I'd say anime has been mainstream in Western society for quite a long time now, especially among the demographics that comprise most gamers. Some people just don't like it, and that's okay.
