U.S.: Has one sales tracker that puts sales data behind a $10,000 pay wall (even though they used to give it away for free), and it's a faceless, thoroughly opaque market research corporation not particularly focused on video games.

That's free economy, without rules and restrictions anybody does what they think will make them the most money...
