I agree with Sean Malstrom, it won't work. Because it's something around the control and not the focus on an existing sports arcade mode, like Wii Sports. It is not a transposition that translates into an immersion activity by motion simulation. Remember more Kinect Adventures than Wii Sports.

I respect the hell out of Malstrom and find him immensely smart and wise (he's partly inspired me to write about games in fact) but he's taken a weird turn into cynicism again when it comes to Nintendo/Switch lately in general, just like in the early 2010's. In the Wii U era it was largely justified but it's been a head-scratcher for me now, in the mid-Switch era. Nintendo's new console is solid, region free, sports a fully handheld-home console hybrid functionality, and has a ton of games. Sure, a good chunk of them are ports, but Nintendo's starting to release new games like Daemon X Machina and Astral Chain as well that he seems to be ignoring. He seems to disregard sequels when it comes to "new games" on a console even if exclusive which is odd to me. But different strokes I guess.. I suppose I just value the handheld functionality of Switch more than he does.

But I digress.. I do think this game isn't going to garner anywhere near the same audience Wii Fit had, but at the same time it does look interesting and creative. I love the idea of a fitness game that is more in-depth. It's pretty damn weird for sure lol, but I do find the unique approach refreshing. The RPG thing for a fitness game might seem silly but at the same time, it could further incentivize people to spend more time playing it, vs Wii Fit which was very surface level and after like 20 minutes it tended to get boring. I do wonder how much of a real workout this will actually give you though, as I never broke much of a sweat playing most of Wii Fit's games aside from the jogging and maybe boxing. Hell Just Dance was more intense than Wii Fit.
