if it's HD than a port of a game from the GameCube era made into high definition and either tweaking the motion controls to work with joy cons versus wiimotes or redoing controls entirely to function like a normal game then I'd imagine the development time into this is a great deal more than most ports.

True but still easier to get to market to replace a delayed game rather than rushing an unfinished project, or even starting another from the ground up.

In my opinion the N64 was not just the best console of the 5th gen but, to this day the best console ever created!
