Unfortunately, I doubt that many GBC carts (whose games require saving) are playable anymore unless you are willing to change out the save batteries. Even if you do change out the batteries, you will likely be back to having the same problem in another 8-10 years because the batteries just don't last that long.

Unfortunately, GBC was the last Nintendo generation that didn't use flash memory for saving game status (which is disappointing because even the N64 carts used flash memory). This is why I am personally building my GBA collection and not going near the GBC: it's nice to know that I can reliably save my games and not lose the data in the near future. There are definitely games that I would love to play on the GBC like Lufia the Legend Returns, but I am opting to play Lufia Ruins of Lore for the GBA on my gameboy player instead.
