Love people saying the Amazing Spiderman films failed, they made 500 million each in profit. The first one was really quite good the second eh not so much but why are people blaming Sony for walking way. Spiderman is the biggest and most popular character in the Marvel Universe and they want 50/50% of the movie tickets? That's a laughable offer.

If Disney want full control cough up 10 billion to buy the full rights back, otherwise piss off with an insulting offer.

^ this.

Disney want 50% of the profits Sony makes on Spiderman movies.... because they lent them a director + made some small showings in MCU.

That seems way overboard..... Disney is crazy greedy.
Before hand, Disney was okay with letting sony keep the money Sony makes on their own made spiderman movies.
After seeing how much Sony could make with spiderman, their like "give us 50%" or we cut you!

Sony did the smart thing, screw disney.

*edit:

Marvel was almost bankrupt and going under, and spiderman was at a low point, before Sony started makeing Movies of Spiderman.
Sony legit bought Spiderman rights for 7 million.... and it now belongs to them.

They built up the "hype" for spiderman. Even if you feel their movies arnt as good as the MCU ones currently, its still a fact that Sony buildt up the character.
With them Spiderman wouldnt be as relevant today.

This feels like their not treating Sony fair, Disney doesnt own the IP, they need to accept that and atleast be reasonable about demands.

The first Spider-Man film was also the first HUGE comic book film that started the comic book movie craze. X-Men did ok, enough to warrant a sequel, but looking at the numbers, it wasn't that impressive. And when you take into consideration ticket price inflation, Spider-Man 1-3 all did over $1B at the box office.
