Ads for apps are great. I ended up downloading many useful apps on my phone because I was exposed to them through ads. Amazon search-history-based suggestions are great too. Facebook suggests useful private groups based on my interests as well. Youtube recommended section is basically ads as well, and quite useful.
Bottom line is that old school ads don't pique my interest as much as the modern "intelligent" ads do.
