Bazingaz! That legit got a hearty chuckle from me.

on topic though, if you do research on this for a few minutes, with a Google Search of the 3 brand names xbox/Nintendo/Playstation it does list Xbox as having a lot more web results, coming in at 1b/500m/750m results respectively, now... I'm not for a second suggesting that means anything in relation to brand recognition or success, I mean... if you google murder you get around 800m results but does that mean that murder is more enjoyable than playstation? People will be happy to know that "Mass murder" only has 350m hits, so that's even less fun than Nintendo it seems... I would have always figured more was more fun... but I'm just saying why googling something and going by results isn't a great metric, the company who did this study might have done similar. If you had the list of things could google a few more from it and see if it's solely based on Google results.

The difficulty of using Google is there are different terms for the same, and conversely there are the same terms for different things.

So Xbox might be higher because PlayStation gets written as PS eliminating some results.

And similarly searching PS might lead to other results coming up like "ps i love you".

There are also language challenges.

プレイステーション is how PlayStation is written in Japanese, but as far as I know Xbox is still written as Xbox.

Oh yeah, I completely agree as well that using Google results of Xbox meaning the brand as more powerful is a bad way of doing things, but that brandz site sounds like their rubbish at their job so they might well have just done it like that, as I said if they do it means that murder is a more popular brand than PlayStation!

This wouldn't even amount for how many of the 1 billion mentions of Xbox are related to the rrod during the 360s first 3 years, that story was everywhere and it most certainly isn't good mentioning of the Xbox as a brand.
