Reminds me of an old MAD comic by Dave Berg:

Kaputnik goes to the supermarket (probably a Walmart btw), goes to the guns section and looks for an assault gun, and gets promptly served. Then he asks for the toy gun section for his little boy, to what the vendor tells him, that they got rid of it, because them things are apparently dangerous.

Replace Toy guns with videogames and we're at the exact same point as that comic was (which was from the 70's if I'm not mistaken).
