Nintendo:

Wii - I simply find nothing enjoyable about the system, and felt it was an all time low for Nintendo software. Nothing it did connected with me, and non of Nintendos main line franchises put out any installments that I enjoyed. The fact that something I enjoyed so little, was seeling crazy only amplified things. I did not want to see Wii's success lead to more Wii's in the future. Overall, the Wii, is my least favorite console from Microsoft, Nintendo, or Sony.

Thankfully, Nintendo did not continue down the Wii path, and we are in a much better position today with Swiitch.

Microsoft:

Xbox - Xbox had Microsoft stepping away from the direction I wanted to see the company go, which was making gaming on Windows better. I didn't need another console to compete with PlayStation, I needed a PC that could game well, with an ecosystem that was well maintained and controlled. The system had a few exclusive titles I actually enjoy to this day, which puts it ahead of Wii, WiiU, and Gamecube for me, but it trails everything else.

On a positive note, this generation, Microsoft has finally started to move towards what I want to see from them. The 360 was a great console, but Xbox One has become by far their best platform to date. The continued convergence of Windows and Xbox has made both the Console and Windows better.

Sony:

PlayStation 4 - It is the 1st PlayStation that has failed to make progress over its predecessor. There are some bright spots amoung its 1st Party Exclusives, but it does not make up for the dramatically smaller 1st party line-up and variety. In addition the Hardware and OS both took a major step backwards compaired to the PS3. The complete lack of Backwards Compatability, the severely cut back media and storage functions, the complete absence of the ability to install another OS, and underwhelming launch hardware all add up to a device that is PlayStation only by name. The PlayStation 4 Pro only added salt to the wound. Not truly capable of 4K in most games, no 4K Blu-ray, no 4K content from PlayStation Store, no support for Dolby Atmos or Dolby Vision. PS4 Pro is actually even worse for its time than PS4 was when it launched.

The one bright spot from PlayStation 4 has been PlayStation VR. PlayStation VR has allowed the PS4 tha ability to deliver new expereinces for the first time since PS1/N64 and to a lesser extent PS2/XB/NGC. Hopefully, Sony will right the ship with PS5, and deliver more games, better functionallity, full Backwards Compatibility, and next gen VR, that can deliver VR's PS2 moment of taking the new medium mainstream.
