Digital sales being over the 50% mark means more incentive for current users to stick with Sony next gen.

Indeed! This is a horn I've been blowing for a few years already. I even had a post ready to go in the Phil Spencer news article, but no matter how I worded it, it seemed a bit antagonistic, even within the framework of the existing conversation. Anyways....I'm surprised this isn't brought up more often.

Foundational: That's what this gen has been, way more than any other. Once you've begun investing in digital purchases, purchases that will carry over into the next gen, for better or worse, you begin to get locked into an ecosystem. And that's just purchases. I for example, have around 350-370 games in my library that are part of my PS+ subscription. Quite a bit to lose if I bail. That's not representative of the norm, but even having say, 50 games tied to a PS+ account is nothing to sneeze at. Then there's the "online identity" angle that Xbox and PS have been fostering, largely via achievements and trophies. I'd prefer not to lose all of that, to say the least. Bristow almost lost his shit when his account was briefly stolen a couple days ago, and I very much get where he was coming from.

As for the PS4 100 million mark:
