As for the prediction, i side by Switch being more than 18M this year too, but a few weeks ago i was almost certain it would ship more than 20M this year, but i'm not as sure anymore. 19M still seems like the safest bet this year.

I'm not sure why these numbers would change your prediction, it's quite clear Nintendo is deliberately trying to lower stock on shelves to make way for the 2 new models releasing this quarter.

Eh, I'm not sure about that. The difference between shipped and vgc estimates isn't massively different to the same time last year. But I agree that these numbers don't make me doubt my own high expectations.

June 30th 2018 - 1.62m more shipped than sold
June 30th 2019 - 1.32m more shipped than sold

The main reason I think is higher number of units on shelves at the end of December then the previous year, so that will cause lower shipments in the following quarters.

December 31st 2017 - 1.72m more shipped than sold
December 31st 2018 - 2.79m more shipped than sold

Though the upcoming lite will have an affect to a degree. I still think the Switch can easily beat the 18m forecast, and even go to 20m+
