How exchange rates affected the gross:

"A few years back in Nigeria, 1$ = 150 naira. Now in 2019, 1$ is about 360 naira.

The average ticket price is about 600 (and say 500 a few years ago) naira.

100 people buying tickets to movie A would be say 6000 naira in 2019 and 5000 naira a while back.

In 2019, that would be about $16

A few years ago and it would be $31

The exact same number of people bought tickets at similar local prices but the return in dollars is abysmal in comparison. 2x less.

That's what this whole chart is about. Exchange rates are utter shit compared to the 09 - 14. Avatar grossed 2.7b in 2009 but if it sold the same amount of tickets and was released in 2019, it would land at about 2.1 - 2.3b"
