How long would you prefer a console lifespan to last before replacement?

An 8-10 year generation would be torture to me tbh. Being stuck on the same hardware for long would just get boring as hell, I'd get tired of it and want something exciting and new. The thought of waiting til 2025-2027 for the successor to the Switch... ugh.
