The only way PS5 and Scarlet could directly compete with NS, would be if Sony and MS make hybrid versions of them. With Zen 2 and Navi this would be impossible, unless the home version use a very lightweight Zen 2 version for the CPU cores (except for some optional service, and possibly disabling the option to be a game server in local multiplayer games, unplugging a hybrid leaves CPU requirements almost unchanged in a game) and Navi cores lightweight enough to allow game engines to scale up or down when plugged or unplugged, to offer the same gameplay, just at different resolutions. During successive years, though, portable Zen 3 and Arcturus cores could offer hybrids the necessary power even when unplugged, but only if PS5 and Scarlet won't push Zen 2 and Navy too close to their limits, in that case it could happen that only Zen 4 and Arcturus 2 could allow to make portable versions. In both cases NS would already be so huge to not fear them, and in the latter case the hybrids would arrive so late to bring Sony and MS very little benefits even just gathering additional profits without any ambition to directly compete with NS.
