What would happen if Nintendo developed their own sports franchises that shared sports focus with FIFA, Madden, etc

Problem is that Sports licenses are expensive these days. EA and Take-Two pretty much have a monopoly on the licensed Sports Market. There's not really much of anything Nintendo can do about it, unless they're willing to cough up an obscene amount of cash for the rights to these licenses.
