I didn’t say there is one guy doing it. It’s a team thing, I know. I’m just saying if you want to animate all that, team or not, it’s still a heavy task. Even for 20 people it’s not a simple task. Especially since most of Game Freak’s Pokemon team have likely not developed an HD game outside of the few non-Pokemon projects they released prior to Sword and Shield.

I didn’t play Dragon Quest XI, so how many monsters are there?

I think even though it’s been three years, they have shared some development staff between that and Lets Go. Regardless, you’re right, it’s been 3 years. I think it’s still pretty good.

GameFreak recycles quite a lot of content, though, and it's been doing so for quite a while now. The 3D models for the pokemons, as well as most of the attack animations, status and enviromental effects, are already HD quality, and they have been so from X/Y. While this is not a bad thing, it's not like they have to start from scratch every generation.

Pretty much this.
