Still kinda looks like a HD 3DS game at times, and Dynamax is just really not that creative or interesting. Like, if this were the 90's making things bigger and stronger would be cool but we should be past lazy gimmicks like this. I'd rather it not be there at all. I kinda wish gimmicks like Z Moves were never introduced, now they feel like each game has to have a soul-less gimmick to invoke "new".

That being said the region itself does look interesting and the Wild Area is a step in the right direction. Gamefreak still has some growing to do before I really get excited for their games again if I'm being completely honest but this is somewhat of a sizable jump from Sun/Moon.

No...

Looking back as well, I'm thankful that tall grass is 3D now in Pokemon Sword and Shield and not 2D. That bill boarded grass would of stuck out like a sore thumb.

Again...I said at times. In terms of texture quality and lighting. And again, I said HD 3DS game not necessarily a "3DS" game. Maybe I'll renege and say HD PS2 game instead or early PS3 game.

I would advise going back and looking at the trailer and see the grass in Sword and Shield is not 3D, it's still 2D planes of grass. There's just more of it and each blade is most likely a single polygon with an alpha on it.

At 1:07 I hope you all can see where I'm coming from with this HD 3DS/PS2 angle. It's scenes like these that really make it look this way. There are scenes that look quite nice but in almost ever scene the texture quality is ass. I say this as someone who has spent 5+ years studying as a 3D Artist and working for miscellaneous studios. So when I say something I'm not saying it out of spite but out of practice and habit. Like I said I bitch about textures and lighting all the time it's just what I've been taught.
