Nobody's denying the hardware was shit, but you're vastly underselling just how mind-blowing awful Wii U's software situation was and the impact that had. I know because I was there, I was an early Wii U adopter.

DQX on Wii U wasn't big cos not only was it already out on Wii but it wasn't a proper DQ game to begin with, it was an MMO, which was not what Japanese players wanted.

I don't Think i'm vastly underselling it at all. I don't think the software was that bad at all it's your typical nintendo console, actually much better when you consider the first party support, it had. We also have to remember Wiiu was doing 10k a week in japan right after the holiday period, within 2 months of release. So we can clearly see how much desirable  hardware has an impact.
