Have we?. I don't remember you and me taking specifically about SC.
Why do I give them leeway?. Why do you lads give anyone leeway at all?. This isn't some special case, where these guys take 8 years to craft a few worlds, all by hand, rather than relying on procedural generation and calling it some stellar work of art (I remember the NMS hype and the comparisons to SC as well).
Why does anyone give leeway to a company that's earned more money than SC in it's entirety, and trying to buy up devs for exclusivity to it's own storefront, while also buying a studio recently, and all while they ruse to pump a few mil into R&D for their own storefront, but people like to mutter "give it time".
SO if they are allowed to back a multi million dollar company, that's earned billions, then why can't I wait for a game that's doing something no one else wants to bother with?.
Like, if it ever were to reach such a point, where it comes to a crawl, and hardly any progress is made, and excuses come out left and right, to a point where we see more excuses than progress, then I'll know the game is dead and dusted. Until then, it's just another game in it's early access phase, like every other indie game that's still in early access on Steam, that might I add, still come out lacking polish, despite their backings (And yes, I will always be there to tear a dev's ass when they don't polish their work, despite all the backing they get).
I tell you what though, they've not pissed any of my money, because I've not backed a single pound into it. I've just been sitting here over the years, casually glancing back to see what sort of progress has been made to the game. In fact, I've very little reason to financially back anything within this industry, because 1) I know someone else will do it, and 2) I know that most of the time the project can turn into a crapfest or not what was originally envisioned.
Have you actually kept up with any of the game's news and dev process?. DO you even know the sheer scope of how the game is being crafted?. If you or those guys on the vid don't even once flinch at the size of their flow chart (because let's be honest here, brutally, who the fuck has a flow chart that insanely large for a game's mechanics/dev processes and staff roles?), then I'd tell you to look again, because it's something else.
That being said, why do you guys need to rag on this game every few months?.This has been a done and dusted show for the past 5-6 years now. Like I guarantee you that anyone talking smack about Death Stranding taking it's eternity, will be defended without question, especially with ye old "except that game's coming out", despite the fact that it's taken it's sweet arse time, and despite all it's backing and the team behind it all.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
