I have said for awhile that of all games people are hyping this year Little Big Planet has the greatest chance of selling poorly ...
- If you look at games that have sold well on the PS3 they tend to be sports/racing games and "Mature" titles; Little Big Planet has a very cutesy style which doesn't tend to appeal to the same crowd ...
- Even if you assume that people are correct and it is a "Casual" title (which I would disagree with) the PS3 is not a very approachable console for casual gamers in either price or useability so "Casual" gamers will not buy the system to play the game.
- Little Big Planet is a game in an established (and dying) genre with a unique gameplay dynamic ... I'm not sure if there is much of a market for a 2D platformer on a console, and much like the point and click adventure games we have seen recently it could be an acclaimed game no one plays.
- It is being released at the time of year when all gamers have way more viable games available then they have time or money to buy. Little Big Planet is not based on an established IP and will face competition from titles like Lego Batman which combines two popular IPs.
