They're not completely different, of course, but you can easily notice the difference between both languages both because of the accent but also because some words mean different things.
For example, in Spain, the verb "coger" is the equivalent of "to take, grab or catch", but in Mexico and other countries of Center and South America, it means... "to fuck" XD.
