That's outdated advice.  Fats from fresh meat are now widely considered to be good for you.  Also, eating a meat based diet is, arguably, ideal.  

But, since the latest advice is nutrition often contradicts the advice that came immediately before it, I tend to stick to the old adage "everything in moderation".  That seems to be pretty well time tested.

One thing is for sure, eating a lot of fast food is definitely not the way to go.
