I'm almost sure I recently read a statement from SE that there is not gonna be a new MMO anytime soon since FF14 is doing well. Can't find it, though.

Not too recent but Yoshida has often made comments like this https://www.finalfantasyunion.com/news/3628/yoshida-says-as-long-as-ffxiv-keeps-expanding-there-is-not-any-point-in-making-a-new-mmorpg/ he never rules it out but given that he has FFXI and especially FFXIV to oversee and support for years to come, it doesn't seem like a new MMO is wanted or needed.
