I am a Nintendo fan first, but this smacks of excuses. Nintendo is responsible for its own lack of momentum in 2018 with the poor first party software showing they had from January-September. Frankly 2019 is not looking a lot better so far. The good news is they did not screw up the launch like 3DS or Wii U.
Is Sony on “easy mode”? Sure, but that’s also Nintendo’s fault for botching Wii U. If the only way you can beat your competition is by your *other* competition keeping them at bay, you are in trouble.
Nintendo needs to keep on banging on the third party doors and it needs to work on first party software momentum. Nintendo accidentally discovered in 2017 that a great software pipeline sells consoles, now It needs to figure out how to offer that consistently, especially for the first 18 months after launch.
