I'm the one that was kind of rubbish. LOL I got caught in the middle of the pack and kept getting nailed with everything. Every power up I got was the the thunder cloud. Grrr. I always use the wheel. A bad day and bad luck. The secret to 3 star rankings is playing the GPs over and over. I think it's based on your time more than anything else. Don't go offroad either. This definitely affects your ranking. This means no going through the water in Shy Guy Beach as well. You should have no problem getting them. Last week I wasn't quite as rubbishy and came in 3rd. You were 2nd. It's just a matter of being pretty good and very stubborn.

 

Lol. I have had a few such experiences. I often describe Mario Kart as a rat race. If you can start off well and escape the majority of the pack you will have a life (race) of relative comfort. However, get caught in the middle of the pack and your life (race) will be very rough no matter how good you are and escaping the rat race can prove a near impossible task.

Very very true. The longer courses also help. Luigi Circuit and Moo Moo 1 mistake = disaster (especially if its a blue shell). And if you got someone behind you who knows whats going on (and has reds), after a blue shell (or pow) you can get up to 3 reds on you. This is killer :P

BTW thunder is stupid, worst item idea ever.
