I mean how would mechanical oscillations propagate in space? They need a medium to travel through. On Earth, that medium is air. 

But mechanical objects are not the only things to have a frequency,objects in space for example our sun also has it so if that same behaviour can be copied then it might have possible interesting effects on objects in space IF the theory of dark matter proves valid(and that would be a medium like earths air).

But again too much research needed to make this option valid but still interesting to think about .
