Thi really takes off when it can be sold for $100 and you need nothing more than a PS5 to which it will connect wirelessly.

How exactly will it pull off that feat ? Autonomously running VR Headsets don't go as far as the newly announced Oculus Quest or the Vive Cosmos. Not even mentioning it'll need it's on hardware and power source (unless you want to make it lass less than 3 hours) if it isn't connected physically with the console doing the operation, wireless connection solves nothing.

Then you go expecting them to sell it 100 bucks at some point ? Unreasonable, that's what it is.

$100 not reasonable but connecting wireless to the PS5 I think is a real possibility.  I actually would be some what surprise if it not a option on the PS VR2.  It could be done with today technology but to prevent latency I would wait to ~2021 which should give them enough time to base it on 802.11ay instead of the solutions that could be used now based on 802.11ad.

The biggest issue right now is price(the wireless adapter for the HTC vive cost $300 by it self)  and latency.  802.11ay should solve most the latency concerns.  Some reviews have been quite happy even with the vive adapter others have notice some latency compared to wired.  For that price am waiting for a 802.11ay based solution.

Price a issue but I don't actually think it cost anywhere close to produce to what HTC vive is charging for it but to keep price down instead of making it wireless only Sony could go the HTC route and have both a option with additional cost for the wireless version or for a adapter.
