Well Van Halen released an album in 1984. The album was called 1984. This is not to be confused with the book 1984. It was actually publised by in 1949. But the album 1984 had some great songs on it. If you've ever had a crush on a teacher, then you can blame Van Halen. They most likely caused it. 
Overall, I was not in to a lot of the music in 1984. For example, Madonna first became real big in 1984 with her Like a Virgin album. It's alright, but not particularly my thing. However, one song from 1984 that I really like was from a small time Irish band.
