Wow thay would be the saddest ending to this Link’s story. 
Not a bad idea though, canonically an end like this is possible since in the next game in the timeline (A Link Between Worlds) I think it’s unknown what happened to this Link (who is ALttP Link). It’s plausible he was just.. lost at sea. As proven by Twilight Princess OoT Link also has an unhappy end.
But anyway I suddenly had a Zelda nerd-explosion.
