Which JRPG has the worst plot in your opinion?

Nah FFVII has the 2nd greatest tale in a JRPG ever. No other game has inspired so many Fan Fics since the 90s. The first? Xenogears...

FFVII was an amazing tale that most games still try to live up to today.

to reduce FFVII to such simple means is to not really understand what was going on in it.

"Emo"? Cloud was not emo in the actual game of FFVII. So many people say this on furthering they don't know what they are talking about Cloud's demeanor in Advent Children is a far cry from what he was like before. He was actually more of a over confident douche in the game, who only cared about himself. Tifa makes several comments about this early on, citing she knows there is a version of Cloud that cares about more than himself because the boy she grew up with was sensitive. 

Sephiroth is a Mamma's boy just like Norman Bates was. Yet their characterizations go sooooo much deeper than that. Sephiroth is the prodigy child, that Jenova compares all others to. Think of a mother who was not controlling in the sense of nagging or constantly correcting your behavior, but one that demands service through your genes.  The fact she was a Planet Devouring Alien entity that infects living hosts and turns them into her "children" is a whole other layer. Advent Children went into more of these concepts with Kadaj being the child who couldn't live up to his big brother and his mother's expectation.   Jenova's parasitic nature is used as a story parallel to Human's own parasitic nature to the planet.
