That is not always true lol. I recently learnt that with GTAIV.
Rpckstar were to lazy to program their games to recognise onboard and dedicated gpus (especially with laptops). They won't even patch it. So my Gaming laptop will run the game through an integrated video card instead of my dedicated Nvidia
